S.H.I.E.L.D. Academy is where most S.H.I.E.L.D. Agents are trained. So far, there have been three named divisions, with each division situated in a separate location, and there is an intense but harmless rivalry between the divisions. All Academy divisions, as with all S.H.I.E.L.D. facilities, have a Wall of Valor in their foyer, as a tribute to all S.H.I.E.L.D. agents who fell in the line of duty. There is also an Academy tradition of pranking new students, which each successive generation of trainees have maintained, one of which is the exaggeration of the legend of The Cavalry

edit] Operations Division

The Academy of Operations was first shown in 1×10 The Bridge, and is the Academy division which trains the Field and Specialist agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.. According to Agent Grant Ward, the division is the most aggressive one of the three, its trainees are in strict uniform, and the place is filled with rope courses. It can be inferred that the training courses here include both physical, strategic, weapons and espionage training.

edit] Known Division Trainees

  • Agent Grant Ward (graduated, defected to Hydra
  • Agent Richard Lumley (graduated, currently on the run, presumed missing by S.H.I.E.L.D.)
  • Agent Linda Avery (graduated, now deceased)
  • Mike Peterson (transformed into cyborg soldier Deathlok

edit] Science and Technology Division

The Academy of Sci-Tech was first shown in 1×12 Seeds, and is said to be a former S.S.R. facility before its successor, S.H.I.E.L.D., converted it into its present use. This Academy division trains the Science, Medical and Engineering agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.. Its trainees are more easygoing than their Operations siblings, and they have had a secret recreation room in the boiler room of the Academy since the 1960s, away from the Faculty’s prying eyes.

It can be inferred that their recruits have extremely high IQ, and most were in danger of dropping out of school – being too bored with the disparity between normal school syllabus and their intelligence levels – when S.H.I.E.L.D. recruits them, though it has also been mentioned that having at least one PhD is required to gain entry into this division. Trainees are allowed and even encouraged to conduct their own experiments under the supervision of the Faculty and/or their Supervising Officers. The top graduates of the Academy are then transferred over to The Sandbox as researchers, a lucrative and much sought after opportunity, while the rest are then attached to different S.H.I.E.L.D. offices around the world.

edit] Known Division Faculty

  • Agent Anne Weaver

edit] Known Division Trainees

  • Agent Leo Fitz (graduated)
  • Agent Jemma Simmons (graduated)
  • Sally Webber (presumed graduated)
  • Seth Dormer (deceased)
  • Callie Hannigan
  • Donnie Gill (transferred to The Sandbox for observation)

edit] Communications Division

The Academy of Communications is said to be the biggest and "easiest" division to enter out of the three divisions. They train data analysis agents here, though it’s also possible that they train computer security experts (i.e. white hat hackers) as well. Most graduate to become data analysts, or facility staff running the administrative side of different S.H.I.E.L.D. facilities and offices around the world.
