This episode left me wondering all kinds of things. What the heck is Raina transforming into?
She has thorns coming out under her eye, perhaps scales on her forehead and down her nose (could also still be remnants of the cacoon), her eyes appeared cat like and her fingers looked reptilian. Ward and Maygent 33 – what is going to happen with those two? Is Whitehall really dead or does him having Skye’s mother’s organs/blood give him the ability to recover, like GH 325? Does Skye realize she has the ability to “quake”? And what the heck is Mockingbird up to? As to Mockingbird, I got the feeling Coulson thinks something is up. Her response and the look Coulson gave her after he told her to contact Diego about Hydra made me feel he suspects something.
I think Whitehall will be alive.. i think the directors are throwing out a ruse, and Whitehall’s death might be similar to what they told us about Mike Peterson, whom everyone assumed was dead after the mid-season finale last year..

I think you are right. Maybe Cal will get his revenge after all.

A couple of things. For those who haven’t got the comics background, my thoughts are we shouldn’t be worried about not knowing all the intricate details of character backgrounds etc. The thing is, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is basically a mainstream show, it’s on a major network so they’ll always make sure it can appeal to a wide audience, and those that read comics are a tiny minority so it means the majority won’t have any of that background information, we’ll be good! Trust the writers that you won’t NEED to know any of that background stuff to continue enjoying the show. It’s also important to recognise that while Skye may be inspired by the Daisy from the comics, she’s already been established with significant differences (from what I read briefly in wikis) from the character established in the comics. So even if you DO have detailed knowledge of comics characters, it might not help you understand the show better anyway… that’s my opinion on the matter anyway.
As far as Skye’s emergence from the cocoon being an indication of her new powers, I’d have to say, actually, yes .. it does show her powers! But not that first cracking… are people forgetting that she blew that thing to bits with extreme force? I LOVED the way that scene was shot…. yeah, I think that did showcase that she’s got some kind of power that gave her the ability to completely decimate that cocoon…. and the resulting vibration is what set poor Trip crumbling Poor Skye.. she has to live with that now…
I have a sneaking suspicion Whitehall will be back, whether it’s in another flashback scene… or that he somehow manages to come back from the dead.

I agree, I’m sure the mother’s organs act as a healing factor in some way. If he does return I wonder if he gets his armored suit like in the comics.

Disappointed they went the comic book super power route as a focus for this show instead of sticking to “going dark” cloak and dagger theme, but so be it. Hope fully Skye moves onto the movie franchise after this season and we can go back to street level action.
– Tripp was clearly character fodder for when they needed a death. It was so obvious that the death made very little impact on me personally. Hartleys death meant more to me and she was on only 2 episodes.
-Hunter is annoying even though the actor who plays him is OK
-Conversely, like the Bobbi Morse character, but think they could have done way better in picking an actress to play her. The sex scenes with theses 2just seem so out of place on this show, and I find them completely unnecessary.

Loved this episode, even if I did see coming the Inhumans story line. And from all the talk around the web it was probably not a huge surprise that Skye is Daisy. But still… WOW! Wow! WOOOOOOW! Amazing especially cause it was done beautifully and even if most of it wasn’t exactly like “where did that come from?!” or “really?!?!” the effect it had on me, at least, was still mind blowing!
As for the discussion that Trip probably isn’t dead or that the mist also affected him… No way! When Skye and Raina got in their cocoons, their cloths also got “cocooned”. Trip? Well only his skin got to stone and crumbled. So… RIP Trip.
And I’m fairly certain that Skye cause the earthquake. And also from Trip to crumble and die. In that moment you can actually see shock waves coming from Skye and affecting the rest of the room.
I’m curious to see what will Raina become, but we do have a small glimpse into that… And it doesn’t look nice. Ahahah! Serves her right!

Looking at that picture the shockwaves are emanating from the Diviner and not Skye because the shockwaves are going towards Skye. Only she could cause this is if she is able to mentally cause the shockwaves to occur wherever she wants an not emanate and not have her as the epicenter.

Not really… When you see it in the video you clearly see them starting in Skye and emanating from her. Then they hit Trip and he crumbles.

Well, not all Inhuman gain massive physical changes, especially those who are half-breed (one example that immediately crossed my mind would be Luna, daughter of no-longer-mutant Quicksilver & inhuman Crystal). As for Daisy, it’s heavily implied by Cal that only her mother is Inhuman. Cal himself only stated that his wife is the one with ‘gift’.
As far as i know aside from the royal family (Black Bolt, Maximus, Medusa and Crystal) no other Inhuman looks human. Also, in the comics anyone exposed to Terrigen Mist will endure the transformation and gain some kind of power (if the subject is not used to the stress of actually use the power, he will die, but not from the Mist itself).
So does this mean Trip could turn into Hollow?

I don’t think so since Trip wasn’t affected by the mist but impaled by the crystal shrapnel when it exploded. You can see his “oh, crap!” moment before turned into stone/ashes.
“Time to grow up, kid — time to stop playin’ pretty girl and face some hard facts. There are questions you will not get answers to. There are things going on that you do not get to know about. And rest assured, I will never slip up in case you feel like bein’ coy.” -Colonel Nicholas J. Fury.December 17, 2014

yes I rewatched … okay accepting Trip is really gone.
Having realised this it had an even bigger impact on me the second time around

Damnit I loved Trip But I’m not really holding out hope he’s still alive, unfortunately. Someone said way back (I basically read pages 1 and 4 of the forum then skipped over to post my own xD) that they felt Trip being alive would have ruined the poignancy of the moment, and I agree. To a certain extent, ditto with Whitehall also coming back to life. But I also feel like Whitehall is too obsessed with immortality to allow himself to be felled by one gunshot.
I’m not very clear on Inhumans, or on Quake in the comics, but I’m honestly really disappointed that Skye ended up being a comics character. And no, I will not suddenly be calling her Daisy, just like no one suddenly started calling her Mary-Sue Poots after that reveal. In fact I think I’m pretty disappointed because I’d been really rooting for Skye not to have powers all along. I feel like it kind of changes the direction the whole series is going, and not necessarily in a way I would like. At the same time, it’s cool for everyone who was all “Yeah, Skye is BLAH from the comics!” because at least they feel partially vindicated now. Except for people who said she was Spiderwoman. That was just silly.
I like Agent 33 and Ward heading off together, I think. It will be interesting to see what they achieve. I kind of want her to get her own face back, though. Or at least some face that isn’t May’s. (On the plus side, if they patched up her face and dressed her like May, she would be a great advantage to send barrelling into a firefight, because no one would know whether to shoot at her or not for a while.)
I also liked that Skye shot Ward. Sorry, but he kind of deserved that, particularly from her, for being a creepy, emotionally manipulative stalker and kidnapper. I would be sad that he lived on, but I like Brett Dalton’s face too much to wish death on Ward.
I don’t particularly feel sorry for Skye’s father, because he’s pretty douchey and irritating. I didn’t really find his attempted bonding sweet. It was just a bit disturbing. I almost liked the moment with the song, but then I realised it was ‘Daisy, Daisy’ (thought it was at first, but couldn’t tell) and that made it kind of a stupid moment. She said, “I’ve heard that before.” Well yeah, it’s kind of a well-known song! I guess the symbolism with her name was cool, but it would have been more awesome if it was some random otherworldly tune that Skye would definitely never have heard before.
Also, I seriously want to know if Bobbi and Mack screwed! DID THEY OR NOT? Damnit.
Oh, and Hunter’s starting to grow on me. I think he had the best one-liners in this episode.
So, overall, it was pretty exciting and awesome etc, but not as exciting and awesome as I anticipated. Bummer.

Seeing a lot of “I dislike the show going the superpowers way” comments got me thinking….. While I do agree that the original premise of “almost ordinary folks living in the MCU” was great and drew me in very quickly, I think we should wait for March to see how the writers tackle the new direction.
Also, bear in mind, that in a way we are still within the original concept: just because Skye has abilities doesn’t mean she’ll don the cape and go fighting crime in Episode 11 I hope…….

Agreed, besides crazy earthquake powers are only fully effective in certain situations so I’m sure Skye will still be using her super spy skills more often then not.

From what I understand the name Quake is just that.
It doesn’t mean Skye’s powers are making earthquakes happen.
Her powers seem to be something more subtle she can give of vibrations and thus cause earthquakes but if she finetunes those abilities she could do a lot more with it than just doing the quake thing.

Probably the best- and certainly the most important (as far as the MCU as a whole)- episode of the series so far. We had two Marvel characters revealed, a good chunk of the Inhuman mythos introduced (albeit not said by name), a half-joking and possibly-irrelevant confirmation of the LMD Koenig theory, and the first death of the SHIELD (yes, there were Hartley and Idaho, but this is the first time that somebody who was truly a member of the team for many episodes passed).
Now… the question of what goes forward. Skye is now Daisy Johnson (it’ll be interesting to see if they start calling her Daisy or if they’ll just stick with Skye for simplicity’s sake), Whitehall is dead, it appears that Ward now has his own lackey in the Faux-May, Trip is dead, it looks like Mack is fine… and Raina has also changed. So many possibilities…
Skye doesn’t know that she is Daisy Johnson. She only knows that her so-called father is called ‘Cal’ and he called her “Daisy”. There was no surnames mention by Cal.
