Brett Dalton talks Hydra & More!

Reading Brett Dalton’s recent interview with Tony Guerrero at Comic Vine News, it’s easy to see that Brett has been a very busy man recently, hard at work over the past year on two upcoming films (The Resurrection of Gavin Stone and The Tourist) and with a role in the Until Dawn video game which just launched on PS4 August 25th. However, it’s the new responsibilities he’s taking on in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. – head of the “Rebranded” Hydra – that may be of most interest to his loyal fans as Season 3 of the series gets underway September 29th on ABC.
The turn ostensibly-loyal agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. Grant Ward took in the second half of Season 1 was a controversial one, but Brett himself seems pleased with the journey Ward’s been taking. “The writers could have done the easy thing and said, ‘Yeah, he’s a spy but, man, he’s got a heart of gold. He’s getting back with the good team.’ It would’ve been a very quick storyline. I think that was certainly one way for them to go, but I’m glad they didn’t take that choice.”
Brett is clearly embracing the work he’s doing on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., but that doesn’t keep him from musing – tongue in cheek – about the possibility of a potential Ward spin-off: “It’ll be him after hours eating ice cream late at night watching Orange is the New Black and wearing cat t-shirts.” Brett adds, “Any other ideas you have, just send them my way. Needlepoint? I bet he’s really good at that. Crocheting. Balloon animals, maybe? You gotta think outside the box.”
