So, me and K80 did a little thinking and since this might become very important information in the near future, we did a table.
Did we forget something?
Name | Task | Location | Status | Affiliation | Special |
The Triskelion | SHIELD Headquarters | Washington DC | inactive | SHIELD
The Hub | Operational planning and support | Europe? | active | SHIELD
The Slingshot | Study and disposal of dangerous technology | dry climate | unknown | SHIELD?
The Fridge / The Icebox (?) | High-security detainment and storage facility | NOT in Alaska | active | SHIELD | Gravitron |
Unknown | Cryo ? Storage facility | Barrow, Alaska? | unknown | unknown | Emil Blonsky |
The Sandbox | Study and disposal of hazardous or contagious material | unknown (North Africa?) | unknown | Hydra? | Blizzard, Chitauri Helmet |
The Treehouse | unknown | unknown | active | Hydra
East Africa Base | East Africa (Wakanda?) | active | Hydra
The Guesthouse | Europe? | inactive | unknown | Blue Alien
Coventry | England | unknown | unknown
Shangri-La | Hunnan, China | unknown | unknown
Camp Lehigh | New Jersey | inactive | unknown | The root of all good and evil |

also, hand says that garrett will be put in the icebox (probably another name for the fridge)
the icebox is an actual prison in the marvel comics located in north canada

And what about the kid from the SHIELD Hogwarts episode who we saw had ice powers? I forget where he went. This is a good idea, we should retrace steps and figure out where all the people and things Coulson’s team encountered up to now. If #itsallconnected, we should connect the dots.

The Guest House wasn’t a S.H.I.E.L.D. location was it? Wasn’t it off the S.H.I.E.L.D. grid?

Right.
I just wanted to add it, since it was an important location.

Not that she’s really a "special", but did they say where Akela was being sent?

Coventry in England and Shangri-La in the Hunnan province of China are missing.
Also Fort Lehigh in New Jersey should count as SHIELD facility given it was the first SHIELD base (CA:TWS)

this picture was posted elsewhere and gives an idea of the damage at different locations around the globe after shield went down
the question is whether these are hydra related, just random incidents, and/or shield bases..
i see a building collapse in bangladesh, a landslide in saudi arabia, some explosion fire in mali/west africa, and a fire? in china

The Saudi Arabia one is too far south-east to be The Playground, but i’m pretty sure that the China one is Hell’s Heaven (Far north to be Shangri-La). If it is, then is HYDRA. I mean HYDRA-HYDRA, not a SHIELD base.

thanks erynus.. your knowledge of the comics is unmatched around here.. did you see the clip for ep 18?
the fridge looks like the Vault in the avengers EMH cartoon
i think the vault in the comics is quite different and is more of a castle

Maybe it work the same as the cartoon’s prison 42, keeping the inmates in suspended animation. It makes sense to call it the Fridge.
Forget that, I just saw the peeks and now i wonder why the Fridge appears to be at a tropical place.

Along the lines of this topic, after CA:WS came out my husband and I were discussing the roles of the Triskelion and the Hub within SHIELD. We ended up comparing them to the Pentagon and US StratCom.
- The Triskelion is the "public face" of SHIELD; even if the public doesn’t really go inside it, it’s what people think of when they think "SHIELD", kind of like the Pentagon. It houses [at least some of] the World Security Council, the director has his office there, the more "business" aspects of SHIELD happen there; essentially it’s the headquarters.
- The Hub is more like StratCom (US Strategic Command), and is a purely SHIELD base, overseeing and coordinating the more "spy" related things of SHIELD.

Re-watched the episode just now, and caught something.
When Hand is talking to Coulson she says, "I’ll head to the Fridge, at least that facility is secure. […] And I’ll find Agent Garrett the smallest, darkest cell in the Icebox." Makes it seem like they may be the same facility, BUT
When Hand, Garrett, and Ward are on the plane at the end, Hand says "I’m thinking the Icebox or the Fridge is a little too comfortable for you."
Perhaps these two places are near or somehow linked, but the way she says that line makes me think they must be two facilities.

I’ve been wondering the same thing, but I would lean towards it being two names for the same place.
In the new episode they said that The Cube is under S.H.I.E.L.D. control.

yes, time to add the CUBE to the list,
also the slingshot purpose needs to be redefined as being used to send monkeys to space
