Also known as “The Calvary,” this hard-core soldier, she has crazy skills when it comes to weapons and being a pilot but her experiences have left her very quiet and a little damaged. (Character previously known as Althea Rice)

Agent Grant Ward is a highly skilled “rising star” known for being deadly, precise and cool under fire but apparently not so good when it comes to dealing with people with a tendency to botch interpersonal relations. He’s a quiet one with a bit of a temper, but he’s the kind of guy that grows on you.

Played by Chloe Bennet (Chloe Wang)

Skye is fun, smart, caring and confident with an ability to get the upper hand by using her wit and charm. She is slightly obsessed with superhero culture and the shadow organizations that exists within it. She’s edgy and can out-talk anyone with her unflappable nature.

Grant sounds like Jayne, Skye sounds like Kaylee. Melinda reminds me of Zoe and Leo reminds me of Wash. Obviously, Whedon is not gonna be super unoriginal but the type of characters are exactly his usual type. I am still gonna watch it though 100 % I think it will be super awesome.

OK, I can see where you’re coming from though I think you could pull personality traits out of any character description and match them to any existing characters if you try hard enough.. it will be interesting to see how much similarity there is in the actual characters once we see them on screen rather than a 1 sentence description!

All that said, character is one of the things that made Firefly so great so it can’t be a bad thing!

Exactly ! Not just Firefly though, Buffy had amazing set of characters as well. By the end of both series, i was in love with every one of them. That is something that does not happen often with other series.

I think Whedon has a knack for making likeable, quirky characters, and I think that’s a good solid foundation to most of his stories. (I’m trying to sound smart, but I don’t think it’s working, obviously…)

Much as I loved the show, I don’t know that I’d say this reminds me of Firefly, though.
