In some ways it is hard to believe that only three weeks have passed since filming began on the most anticipated series pilot of the decade.

Filming began on January 22, two days after the first real signs leaked onto the internet in the form of Tweets by two observant Los Angeles locals who spotted S.H.I.E.L.D. decal-led vehicles being transported in the area ready for filming.

The first day of filming we were teased with tweets from showrunner Maurissa Tancharoen and Marvel’s Joe Quesada tweeting some very vague behind the scenes photos.

Twitter exploded the following day with the launch of the official S.H.I.E.L.D. Twitter and Facebook accounts and for the next three weeks fans and the media hung of every tiny bit of vague news posted from the set and Marvle’s “Agent M” posted a series of behind the scenes videos which, once again, gave absolutely nothing away!

That brings us to Monday February 11th when Tweets from members of the S.H.I.E.L.D. crew began to reveal that filming for the pilot was over!

Now the pilot moves into the post-production phase and we sit back and wait for ABC to review what they have and make a decision on whether or not they order the show to series.

This is a good time to follow the official Twitter account and “Like” the official Facebook page and let them know you’re excited about the prospect of the S.H.I.E.L.D. series.

Here are some tweets announcing the end of filming.

  1. And now we begin the (not) patient waiting for an air date…

I’m pretty confident it’ll air but the not knowing is killing me

  2. I’m very giddy!! I’m also very hopeful it will be picked up, but you never know :S

  3. I can’t believe it’s been three weeks already; I feel like it was just earlier this week that Maurissa tweeted her first set tweet!

I can’t really see any way that ABC doesn’t pick this up. I mean, if it’s part of Marvel’s Cinematic Universe, it has to be important to the future Phases in some way, right?

  4. I feel the same way – I was extremely surprised to see that three weeks passed already o_O

Let’s hope you’re correct! I don’t really know much about the way these things work, I’m just a pessimist I guess.

Heh. That means you are only likely to be *pleasantly* surprised ;’)

That said, I find it hard to imagine a scenario where S.H.I.E.L.D. is NOT picked up for at least a full season – Disney and Marvel Studios have a lot riding on this MCU “expansion team”, and I just can’t imagine Joss or anyone else on the team turning in a bad product. *fingers crossed*

I too am very optimistic :)

It just makes too much sense, especially when Disney owns both ABC & Marvel.

  7. Those three weeks flew by fast. I can’t wait to see the first trailer later this year. I’m sure it will get picked up.

yeah, even if ABC isn’t very excited about the show (and I’m assuming they are excited about it) there will be pressure from Disney to get it on the air….

I would think that after Avengers did such huge box office there will be an assumption that everyone who enjoyed Avengers will tune in to see SHIELD (I don’t know if that would be true, it would depend upon the place in the schedule and other factors), but I would certainly think that ABC and DISNEY will assume that that would be true.

And maybe it IS true, just bringing Coulson back is going to guarantee a lot of movie goers will want to check out SHIELD’s pilot episode!

I’m not worried about being disappointed, Joss wrote & directed it!  He has Jed and Maurissa working with him!!  It is going to be awesome!!!  LOL

  9. I think marketing will pay a big part in how successful this show is, I hope that ABC gets right behind it and doesn’t rely on fans to promote it for them like they have with Castle. Market this in the right way and it’ll be a sure hit.
