What do you guys think of the casting so far?

Chris Pratt as Peter Quill/Star-lord

Dave Bautista as Drax the Destroyer

Zoe Saldana as Gamora

Michael Rooker as Yondu

Lee Pace as (unknown villain)

Ophelia Lovibond as (unknown character)

Enzo Cilenti as (unknown character)

I like Chris Pratt as Starlord, he's a funny guy and he's already in terrific shape for the role. I am unsure about Bautista, I have never seen him act in anything, and he's never been in something as big as this, so its hard to judge. I don't Zoe Saldana as Gamora. She seems to be the go to girl for scifi and has been type cast into the role of badass alien chick, when I don't think she does a particularly good job, but hey this won't make or break the movie. I like Michael Rooker, but I don't know about the role he's in. Lee Pace is an alright actor, and the remaining to I have no idea who they are.

Oh and I'm not sure who I want to play Rocket Raccoon. All I know is that I am campaigning for Sam Elliott to play Groot.

I'm fine with the cast. It's not the best, but it could of been worse. I'm not familiar with most of them, to be honest. Zoe Saldana is the only one I've seen in any previous movies (Pirates of the Caribbean and Star Trek). I know she was in Avatar, but I've never seen it.

I think Zoe Saldana is amazing! But im not familiar enough with GotG to know what they're really aiming for with the character. I've loved her in everything ive seen of her so far! Im sure she'll do it justice.

I'm pretty happy with all of the casting so far. I think Pratt is going to be amazing, and I love Zoe Saldana. I was initially a little worried about Bautista, but there was a James Gunn interview that changed my mind. The whole thing is worth a read, but the gist of it is that Bautista was cast for his (apparently amazing) ability to access his emotions. Which is fantastic. I was worried they were going to play Drax as a stupid tough-guy.

Hopefully we'll get Rocket and Groot casting soon, considering the movie starts filming in June. Although considering we're talking about voice actors, who knows.

I don't think they'll go for straight up voice actors, I'm sure there will be some motion capture involved with the 2 characters.

I'm sure it will be used to some extent. The character doesn't need to have the same proportions as a person to be motion captured. Even if it means motion capturing their face to capture the actors performance. With Andy Serkis's performance of Gollum I believe they used his motion capture performances mostly as something to base it on, and then tweaked the animation later to make it more fluid. What I'm saying is, I doubt they're going to go for a "voice actor".

And I just reread that quote by Victora Alonso...

“You can’t do any motion capture with a raccoon – they won’t let you put the suit on,” laughed Alonso. “But we will do rotomation, probably, for some of the behavior. Rocket will have his own personality, of course, and clearly we can’t do mocap on a tree, per say, but we definitely will have performers to emulate what James Gunn will lead to be the behavior and the performance. He’s very clear on where he wants to take the characters.”

I don't think anyone was actually suggesting putting a Mocap suit onto a raccoon, or on a tree... She confirms that there will be performances by actors which leads me to believe they will be using some mocap. So yeah, no using mocap for capturing raccoons movements, obviously, but I believe they'll be using some mocap to capture the actors performance, unless there is some new technology that I haven't heard of yet.

Yeah if theres actors involved, usually there has to be some sort of mocap! Even if its just for facial expressions!

That's not the point, though. I was initially saying it because they don't need to have Groot and Rocket cast before they start filming.

They don't need the actors to be walking around, interacting with the other actors. Because at the end of the day, Chris Pratt is probably going to be talking to a tennis ball on a stick, and whoever they cast as Rocket will record his lines and facial performances by himself in a room.

So Karen Gillan has apparently been cast as one of the GotG villains.... Think she'll be good?

I've never seen her in anything so her casting didn't interest me at all... but Benicio Del Toro being cast in an unknown role as of right now, thats got my attention. This movie has some unconventional casting.

is this suppose to be a comedy? I knew chris pratt was gonna be star lord but I thought it was still gonna be a serious movie. I can't really tell from the trailer.

I know right,

When I saw it I was like umm…

I thought it was going to be pretty serious too.

I guess not, it looked pretty cheesy and weak to me.

But that's just my opinion on it. I might think it's some sort of comedy type too.

I didn't notice that, I was distracted at how cheesy the trailer was lol, (Again, personal opinion).

I will check trailer out again for that.

Thanks Director E. , I will check the official site out for that.

This trailer is almost exactly the same as the footage they played at Comic Con. They likely took the comedy route with it to draw people in, and to introduce characters. The next trailer will be less campy I'm sure.
