This looks good Melinda May in action should be amazing

Pfft, please, May has had action dozens of time. I am excited for badass SKYE in this episode! :D

  3. I agree with Zaffie! Badass!Skye ftw! I want her to earn her stripes so bad. Just like Melinda needed that epi3 helplessness to push her back into the field, Skye needed the yelling (mean though it had been) to force her to choose. We all know that the search for her parents was the driving force of her life, but come on girl, you’re on an active mission. Prioritize better. And also, don’t you now want to be a part of SHIELD for reasons other than to find your parents? Cuz SHIELD def won’t want or need an agent who’s gonna bail the moment you got what you’re looking for.

Side note, looking at the preview shot of the video with the five of them in a row, I am reading two things into this:
    1) the ladies ranging Ward XD Skye and Simmons are on his left while Melinda on his right. Does that mean Melinda is “right” while the other two are “left” (as in, coming out of left field? XD).

    2) Ward as the center figure of their little group sans Coulson solidifies his position as actual second-in-command of the team despite the fact that Melinda is a) older, and b) Level 7 before him, and c) is Coulson’s confidante. It ties back to Epi7 at the Hub where his name tag is right next to Coulson’s, with Melinda’s third, then Simmons’ (if you recall, Simmons specifically was in charge of the Bus in epi5 once Ward and Skye left for the Centipede lab), finally Fitz’s.

Or they just put Ward in the middle because he’s the tallest and it looked artistically pretty. xD Also, what is coming out of left field? I only understand soccer metaphors. :D

  5. Here ya go Zaffie: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/O…..left_field

OMG so what if Ward’s the tallest? Promo pictures always put him in side places, not center XD

  6. It was Skye who said it, which is pretty awesome considering she wasn’t even part of the team when Coulson said it in front of Ward, Fitz and Simmons :D She’s a total daddy’s girl. Please do not take this to mean that she’s Coulson’s actual daughter though, cause that would be way too weird.

  7. One comment on the promo: AAAAAAAARRRRRRRAAAARRGGGGGHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!

Don’t mind me, I’m just going to go flail around for the next three weeks while I wait for part 2, biting my fingernails.

What the heck was that gem or piece of armour that Fitz revealed to Simmons? I freeze-framed it and it doesn’t look like the chitauri neural link we saw in the pilot, but it looks like a piece of armour from something bigger maybe?

A couple of more SHIELD (?) agents showing up – the black guy at the end who tries touching Lola and the guy in the suit who is on the bus talking to Coulson and May “stay away from that girl, wherever she goes death follows.” At first I thought they were talking about Skye (mostly because I was stuck on Skye’s awesome suit!) but then I realised they’re probably talking about Raina and we have no idea who that guy is – his face is 3/4ths turned away from the camera. He could be an older SHIELD agent or someone else entirely.

I note Mike Peterson was conspicuously absent from the trailer, but I don’t think he dies, so I assume Marvel is keeping his survival / involvement a secret for the next three weeks. So, if I’m right and he does survive, then I’m thinking his role is going to be pivotal. Or maybe he dies and I’m all wrong.

    And Victoria Hand!

    And Coulson’s death revealed! (hopefully)

And… Oh my. I think I’m running out of oxygen from excitement.

  8. Becky said

Was that Mike Peterson at the end, when Skye says “Don’t touch Lola”?

    Awesome if it was. /wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif

No that was a random SHIELD technician who got a little curious. Lucky for him it was Skye and not Coulson who caught him XD

  9. Agent Zimmer says:

I’m the only one eho noticed that Coulson and the team are riunite in a nuclear test site, probably in Arizona? The fake houses an the manneqin blink me to “the hills have the eyes”

Aaand….IT’S THE BLUE INFINITY GEM THAT ONE!?!?!?!

  10. After the big cliffhanger ending of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. for 2013 news has surfaced about the next episode coming up on January 7th.

Picking up after the explosive ending the story will reveal some of the answers fans have been waiting for since they first heard the words “Coulson Lives”.

XXXThe official description of the episode titled “The Magical Place” states: “Coulson uncovers vital information about the mystery of his death, but, with Centipede out for blood, this knowledge may come at the cost of one of the team.”

Returning to the series for the first time since the pilot is fan favorite Ron Glass who plays  S.H.I.E.L.D.’ Doctor, Streiten.  Also returning are Saffron Burrows (Agent Victoria Hand), Ruth Negga (Raina) and Cullen Douglas (Edison Po). The episode also includes the first appearance of the mysterious Vanchat who will be played by Aiden Turner.

  11. Ron Glass! And Vanchat! And Victoria Hand!

    *screeches*

P.S. Victoria, if no single agent is that important, why would Fury go to the trouble of getting him back?

  12. DevonNite said
    @ Agent Aisking Ngaio:
Because when Coulson died, Fury lost his one good eye.

Lol I know, which is why I’m posing the question to Victoria Hand XD When Coulson gets capture, you just don’t give an attitude about rescuing him dammit! XD

Is this footage from the first episode back or the second half of the season?

Most likely it’s from the first episode back. They haven’t actually finished filming the entire second half of the season.

  13. Agent Zaffie says:

So, in the promo, they try to make it (at least that’s how I heard it) sound like someone is saying that death follows Skye or whatever. Pretty sure that’s a case of mismatching images and audio, yes? I’d expect the man to be talking about Raina.

Of course, if he IS talking about Skye, that would be fricking awesome. She looks epic in this episode.

Yeah we’ve talked about this, right Zaffie? It’s most likely Raina cuz her rate of death is higher than Skye. I mean, what sorts of death followed Skye over 10 epis? But Raina, her first subject exploded, second subject was almost assassinated, third subject exploded (not to mention the Dr Debbie BBQ), fourth subject eye explosion. Feh.

#canttrusttrailers (Remember May’s apparent “You shouldn’t be here” to Mike? XD)

  15. OK … so there’s this…

  16. Agent Zimmer says:

    oh ç__ç

I’m afraid that there will be no real answer to the Coulson’s death

  17. Another Chitauri artifact??? Well, we do know that Vanchat specialises in either the trafficking or researching of alien tech including Chitauri, so that makes a lot of sense.

  19. The REAL question, we chould be asking is: What is phase 3? And why do they need Coulson for it?

What kind of problems could they still be having, now that Phase 2 means, stabilizing the Extremis element?

    What else could they want?

What does Coulson have, nobody else has? He came back from the dead.

For it to be useful for Centipede, it must be something, that´s still active.

So, no quick fix of: You were out for a 2 minutes.

Now, is it magical, technical or “super”

Someone said Infinity Serum and I am right up that alley with him.

Because we just happen to know someone, who was BORN with the infinity serum and by chance happens to be Coulson best friend.

Centipede would be the first to try to get their hands on it this way.

    Oh and The Claivoyant?

I think, we have been misled by Po and his seeming prominent and important role.

That guy is batshit crazy. He makes it sound, as if the Clairvoyant is someone with superpowers.

My guess is, the Clairvoyant is someone high up in the SHIELD superstructure, playing their own game.

And getting in touch would actually really be this: get in touch.

He doesn´t like to be touched. Why? Because it´s dangerous, of course.

But who else would be knowing about Coulson and what was done to him?

But who else would be knowing about Coulson and what was done to him?

Kat, I absolutely love your idea of the Clairvoyant being a high-ranking member of SHIELD. It’s my personal favourite theory so far, just because it would reinforce that notion of SHIELD being an organisation, and prone to faults, rather than something which is ultimately perfect, etc. Some of the recent episodes (The Hub in particular, obviously) seem to be implying that there is some deep-seated issue in SHIELD, and Coulson is having problems working with them and obeying orders. We’re being set up with Coulson as our main hero and friend etc, so that means we side with him against SHIELD in some instances. Also, the Winter Soldier trailer for Cap 2 sees Captain America having some unresolved SHIELD angst too. The Clairvoyant could just be another piece in the picture of SHIELD that they are trying to create.

  21. Exactly my thoughts!

    Hah!

Between Cap 2 and someone trying to oust Nick Fury (as suspected by me) AND Couslon being Fury´s best friend, we are being set up for some epic stuff. (aside from you know.. THE WINTERSOLDIER!)

  22. Nick Fury doesn’t have friends XD He’s all aloooooooooooooooooooooone.

Cuz friends don’t lie to friends. They just don’t. XD

Seriously though, a man in position probably can’t afford any friends anyway. He trusts his closest agents, but he won’t go out drinking with them though.

  23.

    Hey Everybody–

I like the ideas about Cap 2 and the takeover of SHIELD, but here’s my crazy theory:

Centipede is SHIELD. Explains the technology, the funds, everything…

  24. I …uhm…

    It´s all connected!

the thing is, there are episodes, that are clearly connected now.

Like the Pilot, like Eye Spy, like The Girl with the Flower Dress

Then there are episodes, that seem to be connected, like The Asset

And completely random filler stuff like 0-8-4 and ARGH!

And then there is The Hub.

And how does all of this go together.

I mean, there are enough organizations out there with the ressources and the means, to be behind Centipede.

For example A.I.M, to just name the most obvious suspect.

But who IS the organization that has it all under it´s roof?

Who has samples of the Serum Banner used, via a Scientist, who injected himself with Banners blood?

And who, of course, got their hands on Extremis, via Stark (or other means, but not difficult)

Monopoly on chitauri tech lies almost solely at S.H.I.E.L.D… so…

    *mind blown*

And then there is a coup d’etat in the making in the background as it seems and S.H.I.E.L.D has many a shady personality on their roster… and I have just been reading Secret Avengers and MARIA HILL! And… whelp!

But then.. wouldn´t they know, what Coulson´s secret is?

I mean, to pull off something like this… on the other hand, only Hill, Fury and the good doctor seem to be in the know.

Can it be January 7th already?

    #savecoulson

  25. I think could in could possibly be skye father because he said in the bridge that he may have a child cause of the way he Said he chose over pay meetings recitals and holiday dinners and also its more common to girls to have recitals I think and the way he attempted to confront skye when may was a mega bitch to her so.

  26. Director E says:

I don’t think Coulson was implying he had a child, I think he was referring to the cellist he spoke to Ward about elsewhere in the episode, he had to let her go because of his job with S.H.I.E.L.D.

  27. But it is possible and also in repairs Mays speech made it sound like she had to let someone go so it’s possible that she has a child and after Bahrain she had to give that child up.

  28. Agent Nyoshi says:

We’ve almost made it! January 7th is right around the corner and Yahoo’s got a sneak peek clip from next week’s new episode, ‘The Magical Place’.

    Hat Tip to TheCGReporter

  29. Ok, I think this clip is much more than it seems. May knows Skye would be helpful in finding Coulson and May wants to do that. May suspects Hand’s motives at this point, so she wants Skye sans bracelet and off the bus away from prying eyes. That way Skye is totally free to hack whatever she wants to find Coulson.

  30. Director E says:

My assumption is May wants Skye to do her thing under the radar.

  31. MsEmilyJustice says:

Question: having a bit of trouble hearing what Coulson says at the end of the trailer.

    Is it:

“Oh god, they bagged me and let me die”

    or…

“Oh god, just bag me and let me die”?

…As any good analyst knows, tiny change. Big, big difference.

Incidentally, when Coulson woke up in Tahiti in the nightmare sequence, earlier in the series:

    “Did I fall asleep?”

    “For a little while.”

This is a Whedon show and that’s the big Dollhouse line. So Coulson might not be an LMD. He might be a whole other agent mindwiped, surgically altered and implanted with Coulson’s mind. Which – if Phil ever figured that out – is going to make him one angry little Agent.

  32. Director E says:

I believe it’s “Please, I’m begging you, let me die” which, is vastly different from either of your suggestions in terms of what it might mean.

I’m pretty sure the Dollhouse reference was just something to make fans happy and doesn’t have any implications as far as what the phrase meant in Dollhouse.

  33. “Don´t trust SHIELD” seems to be a huge theme in all the Marvelverses right now.

Secret Avengers has a similar trope. (Hill against Daisy Johnson. And Hill cutting off assets and leaving them in pretty much mortal peril)

In Avengers we had the same thing, ESPECIALLY with the alternate opening and ending, where Hill was doing the “Fury went against the rules and that´s, what came out of it”

This thing has been building for a while and I think it will be a huge part in the series at some point.

Not so much Coulson vs. Fury ( I hope) but Coulson as Fury´s secret weapon against the burocrazy in S.H.I.E.L.D that just follows orders by the WSC, instead of doing the important stuff.

  34. MsEmilyJustice says:

Thanks. Maybe it’s my ISP’s edge cache but the audio seems a little screwy on YouTube.

Can’t wait for Friday 10th (C4 UK). But we do get new Sherlock today… who also has a bit of explaining to do regarding resurrection…

  35. Seems possible that May has an alternative motive. I think thats why we see sky in the car.. So that Agent Hand can not control Skye’s restrictions.

Personally, I feel that Agent Hand doesn’t care about finding Coulson, so I feel there is probably a secret plot going on between each team member to find/save him…

Also in this pic, it looks like Centipede is controlling Coulson with an eye thingy…

Maybe thats what Simmons and Fitz refer to when Fitz tells Simmons to “Embrace the Change”…Maybe they want to hack Coulson’s eye or someone else’s…

I definitely see some twists and turns are likely to happen… I personally, however, am more excited to see Seeds on January 14! :)

  36. Guys, this could be bigger than we think. I don’t know if I’m overreading this, but didn’t Victoria Hand seem a bit nervous over the fact that Skye is tracing Vanchat’s financials? Might it have contributed hugely to Hand wanting Skye off the plane? (Because the secret separatist half of SHIELD is receiving black funds from undertable sources?)

  37. Seems interesting but possible… I feel that May and Hand have something that makes them “dislike” eachother… It may not seem apparent but there is some tension between Hand and May.

  38. Hmmmm it all makes sense if SHIELD (or rogue elements in it) is behind Centipede. And the clairvoyant could very well be The Leader, whom we know from the movie tie-in comics to be in SHIELD custody.

  39. Director E says:

The pic of Coulson you posted, he hasn’t had an eye thingy, he’s just been beaten, you see his face in an earlier scene in the promo. You can see them in the screenshots at the bottom of the page, while he’s wearing a white shirt /111

  40. Umm… excuse me? Which movie tie-in comic are you referring to and which character is that?

If it’s true that the Clairvoyant is in SHIELD custody then why is Phil so emphatic about there being none on the Index?

  41. The Leader is a character from the Hulk movies.

We can see him taken into custody by S.H.I.E.L.D in the tie in comic The Avengers Prelude: Fury’s Big Week (Which btw is absolutely worth a read. Someone was having alot of fun there)

He has enhanced brain activity due to the serum that got Banner to well.. greenify.

  42. Director E says:

We kind of have to take anything going on in the comics world with a grain of salt where the tv series is concerned because they don’t necessarily follow the same timeline

  43. Those are.

Fury´s Big week is a 100% tie in to the MCU

  44. Agent Nyoshi says:

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is almost back, but if you can’t handle the wait any longer we’ve got the first two minutes of next week’s episode right here. In it, our S.H.I.E.L.D. team takes teamwork to a whole new level and a familiar name gets a face.

    http://youtu.be/PNPGxErdyVI

  45. YESSSS TEAM WIN! And kickass roof scene. And OMG D.W.A.R.F.S.! And and and… VANCHAT ZOMG.

And I love how they show that behind-the-scenes scientists and hackers can contribute just as much as field / specialist agents. Not everything has to do with punching. Yay!

(although, poor still-injured Ward getting injured yet again XD the guy is in need of a break XD)

  46. There are two Human Torches. One is Jim Hammond, one is Johnny Storm.

  47. Agent Zimmer says:

    Love the first sequence!

  48. Alright look…I’ve been trying to figure this out just like everybody else. I am still having a hard time as to why Fury kept it a secret. Yeah the Avengers “needed the push” but the great thing about the MCU is the continuity. The connection…the flow in and throughout all the movies. Hill knew the cards were not in Coulson’s jacket, but his locker. Fury knew he survived. Hill knew he survived. There again is that in between time we didn’t get to experience…what happened…where did Coulson go or how did he “heal” or survive” There has been speculation of The Scarlet Witch healing him Tahiti…there has been the speculation of him being taken to Asgard…but Thor 2 would have some kind of dialogue or reference to it…Thor saw Loki “kill” coulson. Phase 2 I think is good so far but not perfect. Too much be left out. Iron Man 3 seemed a stand alone, like they said, but just seemed like it didn’t fit. Thor 2 was better…really hoping Cap 2 brings it all together again. BUT we still have the question…WHY or HOW did Coulson survive and why the big secret. I had wondered Extremis…or some kind of syrum from AIM or something similair to what they put in Steve Rogers. The Avengers HAVE to eventually find out that Coulson is alive…he was the glue that intertwined Phase 1 movies. the outrage of him being “killed” in the Avengers was awesome and I am glad they brought him back. I think to tie in to the next few movies, Cap 2, Avengers 2 they need to have some sort of Coulson story in there somewhere. If they don’t talk about him AT ALL in Cap 2 I will be disappointed. And if he is not in Avengers 2…I don’t know…guess we will see. OK that’s my two cents. JUST an observation.

  50. I wonder if Vanchat also pushed the kill switch on Acqelia Amador’s handler.

I suspect they’d have someone more junior sitting around pushing kill switches – possibly even someone else with the eye control. After all, the Englishman was primed to kill Amador, so it’s reasonable to assume that the person who killed him was similarly controlled. One wonders how far up the ladder these eye things go.

  55. So did THE CLAIRVOYANT get the “sonic taser” thing from Stane? He probably sold it to somebody…
